Hello everyone!
Happy Easter and if you don’t celebrate – Happy Sunday!! I hope you’re all doing well and staying safe! For my third Easter card I made another inside shadow box card. A landscape version this time. I used the super cute “Easter Egg Hunt”, “Fairy Garden” and “Springtime Gatherings” stamp sets by Hello Bluebird.
First, I stamped all my images onto Neenah cardstock. Then I cut out all of the images using my Brother Scan’n’Cut and colored them in using Copic markers. I added some shimmer pen on the easter eggs, flowers, fairy wings and butterflies and also some Crystal Glaze the the brushers and Easter eggs. After everything was dry I added some Unicorn Stickles to the paint brushes and the inside of the paint bucket. I did the embellishing before assembly this time, because I find it’s a lot easier than fiddling around with the interactive card later.
Then it was time to tackle the mechanism. I cut a piece of 8.5 x 11″ Lawn Fawn Fog cardstock in half length wise, so I ended up with two panels measuring 11 x 4 1/4″. Then I scored one of the panels at 5 1/2″, folded it along the score line and cut off 1/2″ on one side. The other panel was scored at 1/2, 5 1/2 and 6″. I used a rectangle die to cut the opening between the first and second score line and folded along all the score lines to form the inside shadow box. I added one strip of Scor tape to the 1/2″ flap and three strips to the back of the long flap (I show it in detail in the video since it’s much easier to see than to write!). I removed the backing of the first strip of tape. Placed it inside the card base, lined it up and closed the card to adhere it. Now I flipped it over, removed the backing of the rest of the tape and closed the back of the card onto itself to create the inside shadow box. Sorry – this is super difficult to write out. The video is much more helpful here! I also die cut a hill panel to inside my shadow box measuring 5 1/2″ and scored at 1/4″ and 5 1/4″.
I cut two pieces of bristol smooth cardstock to A2 size and ink blended Spun Sugar, Shaded Lilac, Tumbled Glass on one of them and used all three and also added in Cracked Pistachio on the second. I gave both panels a coat of Tsukineko Shimmer Spritz for some pretty shine. Then, I die cut the Hello Bluebird Spooky Scene twice out of bristol smooth cardstock and ink blended the trees with Old Paper and Frayed Burlap Distress Ink. I also cut a frame of the Scene Die using Fog cardstock to match the card base. On the hill of the Spooky Scene and the one I cut before I used Cracked Pistachio and Evergreen Bough. I also used the Grassy Knoll die set to create some tree tops and I used Cracked Pistachio, Evergreen Bough and Pine Needles Distress Ink to blend those. I also added some splatters for added interest.
I cut down the background to fit inside of my shadow box, adhered it and also adhered my hill panel.
Then I added all the Spooky Scene elements to the front background using liquid glue and added my critters and flowers to create the scene. I also stamped some grass pieces from the Field Mice stamp set using Cracked Pistachio Distress Oxide ink.
After that I added all my images to the inside using liquid glue. Some directly to the back of the box and some to the hill to create dimension. I also ink blended a banner with the colors from before and die cut it with the Lawn Fawn Wavy Banner die. I heat embossed the sentiment from Easter Egg Hunt onto it in silver and added it to the inside of my card.
I really hope you enjoyed this one! I had a lot of fun making it! Until next time – stay safe!
Thank you for stopping by and have a great day!
– Julia
