Hello Everyone!
Today I am sharing a magical rain shaker card with the adorable elephant stamp from Mama Elephant.
First, I used Distress Oxides in Tumbled Glass, Faded Jeans and Chipped Sapphire to create the background. I sprinkled on some water and blotted it up to create some splatter and then I sprayed the background with shimmer spray.
After that I cut the 4 1/4 x 5 1/2″ panel down to 4 1/2 x 5″. I lightly adhered the panel to a temporary background, I marked every 1/4 ” on both sides and put foam tape and the top and bottom. 1/4″ of the foam tape is hanging off the panel on either side so that the finished card will be A2 sized.
I decided to adhere every string separately, so if something gets loose it would only affect the one string. I added about 5-9 2mm clear iridescent beads to each sting. I stuck the string down on the top, added the beads and then pulled the string taught and adhered it to the bottom. I used the backing sheet of the foam tape to press the string into the adhesive. I repeated this step for all of the marks I had made on the panel. Then, I added a second strip of foam tape on top to seal in the strings. I used some anti-static powder tool and ran it along the top on bottom side of the foam tape (where the beads may touch it) so that nothing will stick to it.
Here you can see some pictures of what the mechanism looked like:
After I made sure the mechanism worked I cut out a cloud and a hill panel to cover it. I ink blended the clouds with Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide and the hill with Mowed Lawn and Lucky Clover Distress Oxide. I stamped by sentiment from the “Picnic with Friends” stamp set by Mama Elephant and heat embossed it in white. Then I adhered the panels to the card.
I stamped out the sitting elephant holding the balloons from “Flying with Friends”. Since I did not have an umbrella stamp I used the table the with umbrella from “Tea with friends” and masked of the bottom part, so I would only be left with the umbrella. I watercolored the images using Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers and Tombow ABT Pens. Then, I cut off the balloons and added the little umbrella instead.
I adhered the elephant to the hill and to finish the card adhered everything to an A2 sized card base. This finishes my first magical rain shaker card!
Thank you for stopping by and have a great day!
