Hello Everyone!
Today I am sharing another magical rain shaker card.
First, I used Distress Oxides in Spun Sugar, Seedless Preserves, Wilted Violet and Blueprint Sketch to create the background. I sprinkled on some water and blotted it up to create some splatter and then I sprayed the background with shimmer spray.
Just like last time, I cut the 4 1/4 x 5 1/2″ panel down to 4 1/2 x 5″. I lightly adhered the panel to a temporary background, I marked every 1/4 ” on both sides and put foam tape and the top and bottom. 1/4″ of the foam tape is hanging off the panel on either side so that the finished card will be A2 sized.
Again, I decided to adhere every string separately, so if something gets loose it would only affect the one string. I added about 4-7 2mm clear iridescent beads to each sting. I stuck the string down on the top, added the beads and then pulled the string taught and adhered it to the bottom. I used the backing sheet of the foam tape to press the string into the adhesive. I repeated this step for all of the marks I had made on the panel. Then, I added a second strip of foam tape on top to seal in the strings and I cut off the excess strings on both sides. I used some anti-static powder tool and ran it along the top on bottom side of the foam tape (where the beads may touch it) so that nothing will stick to it.
I stamped out some of the fairies from mama elephant’s “Little Fairy Agenda” and the flower border from “Wild Meadow” and watercolored them using Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers. I also added a little shimmer on the wings of the faires with the Wink of Stella Shimmer Pen.
I cut out a cloud border ink blended the clouds with Spun Sugar Distress Oxide. I stamped the sentiment from the “Picnic with Friends” stamp set by Mama Elephant also in Spun Sugar. Looking back I wish a would have chosen a more vibrant color, but I did not want to mess um the entire panel by trying again. Then I adhered the flowers, the clouds and a few fairies to the panel.
I knew I wanted a couple of the fairies to be in the middle of the panel, but I also wanted to make sure the beads would not stop at the fairies. So I came up with there little stands for the fairies to stick to:
For these I adhered two thin thick strips of acetate to each other and scored them at each end to create the stands. I adhered them using hot glue as i needed it to be flat, sturdy and quick drying. Be careful not to get any glue onto the strings and to adhere these right in the middle between the strings to make sure it does not affect the movement of the beads. This is how mine looked before adhering the die-cuts and images:
Then I adhered the entire panel to an A2 sized note card. This finishes my second magical rain shaker card!
Thank you for stopping by and have a great day!
