Hello Crafty Friends!
I hope you are doing well! Today I want to share a new interactive card with you. Last year I saw the most amazing version of a Flippin’ Awesome Card here by Jooyeon and I fell madly in love with it! Such a cool way to add more to the little panels of the mechanism. So I had this idea in the back of my mind for while to turn this type of style into a birthday card. So now I finally got around to making it and I hope you like it!!
If you would like to see how I made this card just click on the video below or just keep reading!
First, I stamped all of my images (and boy – there were a lot of them!) onto Neenah cardstock and colored them using Copic markers. Then, they were cut out using the Brother Scan’n’Cut. I did some masking on the cake to have a full cake with the candles already blown out.
I die cut all the pieces of the Flippin’ Awesome from Bristol Smooth cardstock. And then it got tricky, because the bottom of one panel would ‘flip’ into the top of the next – so both sides needed to be ink blended. I cut some post its to size to protect the backs from smudges while ink blending. I used Tumbled Glass and Salty Ocean for the sky and Cracked Pistachio and Pine Needles for the grass. I also added some splatters of the liquid pixie dust for some pretty shine.
I die cut small strips of cardstock and scored them 4 times to create little cubes for the pop up feature.
Then it was time to assemble the Flippin’ Awesome. I added the interactive part to the scalloped add on and added that to a piece of patterned paper. After that, I added all my images to the scene. On the last panel I was careful not to layer the cuts too much to make sure it won’t snag when the mechanism is being closed.
I stamped the sentiment and added the die cut word to the edge. I had quite a few images left over, so I also added a few to the inside of the card! And that finishes off my card for today. I am so happy I finally made a card like this! It took me a really long time to make but it was so worth it to me! I really hope you like this one!
Thank you for stopping by and have a great day!
