Hello crafty Friends!
I hope you are doing well! Today I am back with a Halloween card and yet another #ChallengeACraftyFriend with my friend Lien!! This time the challenge was: Make it your own! Choose a card the other has previously created and take elements from it to create your own card. I used her fabulous Magic Picture Changer card because I adore that background! I used the same shades of distress ink she did and I just added a moon and darkened up the grass for the base of my scene and then added lots of spooky (and cute!) elements to fill my scene! And since this card is for a very dear friend of mine – I didn’t want to stop there. So I added an inside shadow box to my card as well!
If you would like to see how I made this card just click on the video below or just keep reading!
First, I stamped my images onto Neenah cardstock and colored them using Copic markers. Then, they were cut out using the Brother Scan’n’Cut.
I die cut a circle out of masking paper to create a moon on my background. I ink blended an A7 panel of bristol smooth cardstock using Milled Lavender, Seedless Preserves and Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink. I removed the moon mask, added the negative space to the panel and ink blended then moon with Hickory Smoke. I also sprayed it with some shimmer spray and used a paper towel to soak up the excess water. That created the look of the little moon craters. Then I ink blended two bristol hill panels using Milled Lavender, Seedless Preserves and Black Soot Distress Ink. I die cut the Tree House Scene once and the Winter Woods Overlay twice and ink blended those with Hickory Smoke and Black Soot Distress Oxide.
I cut the two Winter Woods Overlay pieces in half so they would frame my scene. I added all the scenery elements to my panel using liquid glue. All my images were adhered using foam tape.
For the inside I ink blended a brick pattern with Hickory Smoke Distress Oxide Ink. And I cut a wide strip of cardstock and two narrow strip to form my kitchen counter and my shelves. Then I cut 4 rectangles to create my cabinet doors. The doors, shelves and counter were ink blended with Hickory Smoke and a bit of Black Soot. The Back of the cabinetry was ink blended with Black Soot.
I adhered the cabinetry pieces to the brick background and also adhered the two shelves. I added a little bit of Twisted Citron Distress Oxide behind the cauldron to create a green glow behind the image. Then I adhered all my images using liquid glue.
To create the Inside Shadow Box card I cut down two panels of black cardstock. The first measures 9 1/2 x 7″ and was scored at 5″. The second measures 10×7″ and was scored at 1/2″, 5″ and 5 1/2″. The second panel forms the inside box part, so I used a paper trimmer to cut a window into the area next to the 1/2″ flap. I also cut down a little slither off the 1/2″ flap to make sure it would fit into the card well.
I added double sided tape to the 1/2″ flap and the last panel on the right (please see video for more details!). I adehered the inside piece into the card base to create the inside shadow box. I used liquid glue to add my kitchen scene panel inside the shadow box and added the night sky scene to the card front.
Then all that was left to do was add shimmer!! I used the Nuvo Shimmer Pen to add shine to the ghosts and the potions and also added some Stardust Stickles to the hat bands of the ghosts!
I really hope you enjoyed this one! I had so much fun creating it and I hope my friend will love it, too!
Thank you for stopping by, happy Halloween and have a great day!
